Dutchess Falcons Softball Team Wins Region 15 Championship

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. – The Dutchess Community College softball team captured the Region 15 Championship with a 9-1 victory over Monroe University – Bronx, at the Suffolk County Community College Brentwood Campus, on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons earn a berth in the Northeast District Championship Series which will be played next weekend at Dutchess Stadium. The opponent and times of the best two-out-of-three series will be announced later. The winner of the District Championship Series will clinch a berth in the Division III JUCO World Series. 

It marks the first regional championship in program history for the Falcons (13-14). They went undefeated in the 2025 regional double-elimination tournament.

Leading the way for Dutchess in its championship-clinching win over Monroe (9-35) was Kayla Baez who earned the complete-game victory in the circle by striking out 12 batters and giving up no earned runs in six innings pitched. Thanks to her strong performance throughout the regional postseason, Baez was named the Most Valuable Player of the Region 15 Softball Tournament.

At the plate, Calia Delvecchio produced two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Sophia Casailinova went 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice.
