Suffolk County Men's Soccer Wins Consolation Match in NJCAA Tournament
HERKIMER, N.Y. – The Suffolk County men's soccer team competed in the NJCAA Division III Tournament, on the campus of Herkimer College, this past week. Fifth-seeded Suffolk County lost the quarterfinal match to fourth-seeded Finger Lakes Community College, 6-1, back on Wednesday but bounced back to defeat eighth-seeded Joilet Junior College, 1-0, in the consolation contest on Thursday.
In the loss to the Lakers, Ronan Montana produced Suffolk County's lone goal off a feed from Jazai Kidd in the 47th minute that narrowed the gap to 3-1 in favor of Finger Lakes.
In the win over Joilet the next day, Kidd provided his second assist of the tournament as he passed the ball to Steven Vargas who buried the official match-winner in the ninth minute to clinch the win for the Sharks. Benjamin Allen made nine saves to earn the shutout victory for Suffolk County.
The Sharks will return to the field in August of 2026.
