Region 15 Athletes of the Month For January

NEW YORK – Region 15 has announced its Athlete of the Month honorees for January. The announcement was officially made on Thursday evening. 

The Region 15 Athlete of the Month winners are below.

Division II Men's Basketball: Anthony Pacciarelli (Orange County Community College)

Division III Women's Basketball: Kolonnie Green (Bronx Community College)

Division III Men's Basketball: Jadyn Wilson (Dutchess Community College)

This marks Pacciarelli's second Region 15 Athlete of the Month honor (also earned it in November). 

Pacciarelli led the Colts to a 7-2 record in the month of January, averaging 29.7 points per game on 50.8% shooting from the floor and 40.3% shooting from 3-point distance. He also averaged 7.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game for the month. Also, Pacciarelli posted five games with 30 or more points and three straight doubles-doubles.

The star of the Colts scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against No. 9 Monroe Community College on January 10, then scored 33 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds against Hostos Community College on January 13. He followed that up with a career-high 38 points and 13 rebounds on January 15 at County College of Morris and then set a new career-high with 41 points at Jamestown Community College on January 18.

During eight contests in the month of January, Green put together strong numbers, averaging 11.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.6 blocks, and 5.5 steals per contest for the Broncos. She has also connected on 43.8 percent of her shot attempts during that span (43-98) and 66.6 percent of her attempts at the free-throw line (8-12). 

In NJCAA Region 15, Green is first in total blocks (84), tied for third in rebounds per game (11.9), and fourth in total steals (85). 

Nationally, Green is first in total blocks (84), eighth in total rebounds (227), and ninth in steals (85).

Green's strong performances in the month of January helped the Broncos achieve an unblemished 8-0 record and a No. 13 ranking in the country, defeating notable NJCAA Region 15 members Westchester Community College (NJCAA Division II) on January 3, nationally ranked No. 15 Kingsborough Community College on January 15, and nationally ranked No. 4 Monroe University - Bronx on January 27.

Wilson led nationally ranked No. 5 Dutchess to a 6-0 record, including a win against NJCAA Division II Westchester, to put the Falcons in a tie for first place in the regional standings. He scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win over Suffolk County Community College on January 24. Plus, he tallied five blocks at Westchester two days prior. Wilson secured 16 rebounds and added 14 points for the double-double, plus four blocks, at Borough of Manhattan Community College on January 29. He compiled 14 points, nine boards, and a trio of blocks against Nassau Community College on January 31.
