Dynasty! Dutchess Wins Third Region 15 Men's Basketball Title In Last Four Years

SELDEN, N.Y. - The top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 7 Dutchess Community College men's basketball team punched its ticket to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament on Sunday by defeating third-seeded Monroe University - Bronx, 87-64, to earn the Region 15 and Northeast District Championships. The contest took place at Brookhaven Gymnasium on the campus of Suffolk County Community College.

It marks the Falcons' third regional and district championship over the last four years.

The NJCAA Tournament will take place from March 11-14 in Herkimer, N.Y. Dutchess will find out its first-round opponent during the NJCAA Selection Show which will take place on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on the NJCAA Network.

Kameron Quinn of Dutchess was named the Region 15 Tournament MVP. He compiled 19 points, four rebounds, and just as many steals during the regional title game. Supreme Niles was selected to the Region 15 All-Tournament team after scoring 15 points during the Falcons' title-clinching game. Daniel Ogunleye provided 13 points and five assists during the afternoon. Shawn Jones brought down a team-high eight rebounds. 

Dutchess took over the game in the second half by going on a 9-3 run to take a commanding 52-38 vantage with 16:37 remaining in regulation time. The Falcons kept building their lead, eventually reaching a surplus of 29 points before earning an 87-64 win in the region/district championship contest.
