Express and Falcons to Play Best-Two-Out-Of-Three Region 15 Softball First-Round Series Starting on Tuesday

BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx softball team will compete in the opening round of the Region 15 Postseason beginning on Tuesday afternoon. The #3-seed Express will take on the defending Region 15 Champion and #2-seed Dutchess Community College in a best-two-out-of-three series. Game 1 and Game 2 will be on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively. The deciding Game 3, if necessary, will be on Wednesday at 3 p.m. All games will take place at Dutchess Softball Field.
The team that wins the series will advance to the Region 15 Championship Round on Saturday and take on top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 8 Suffolk County Community College (15-9, 7-1 Region 15) in a best-two-out-of-three series beginning on Saturday at Brentwood Field.
The Falcons (11-6, 5-3 Region 15) won all four games during the regular season against the Express (6-28, 0-8 Region 15).
Leading the way for Monroe - Bronx this season has been Tiara Desanto who has an OPS of 1.067. She has a slugging percentage .588 of and is hitting .361 with four home runs, six doubles, two triples, 25 runs batted in, and 32 runs scored. In the circle, Kimberly Coste has three wins for the Blue and Gold.
For the Falcons, Kayla Baez has been a force at the plate and in the circle. She is batting .481 with five home runs, 30 RBIs, 23 runs scored, and a .563 on-base percentage. As a pitcher, she is 11-6 with a 3.71 earned-run average and 125 strikeouts.
