Suffolk County Wins Region 15 Softball Championship
BRENTWOOD, N.Y. – The top-seeded Suffolk County Community College softball team captured the Region 15 Championship on Sunday afternoon, defeating #2-seed Dutchess Community College in the deciding Game 3 by a score of 14-2. The game took place at the Michael J. Grant Softball Field on the campus of Suffolk County Community College.
It marked the Sharks' first regional championship since 2023. Suffolk County now earns a berth in the Northeast District Championship Series which will take place next weekend. Opponent, dates, time, and location are to be announced.
After dropping the opening game of the regional championship series, 5-2, on Saturday, the Sharks bounced back to win the second contest by a 10-2 score later in the day. Then, on Sunday, the Sharks won the deciding game by a 14-2 margin over the previous regional champions.
Thanks to her strong performance in the Region 15 Championship Series, Brooke Mancuso was named the Region 15 Tournament MVP. She went 3-for-4, including a two-run homer, a double, and an RBI single during the deciding Game 3 to help the Sharks capture the regional championship.
