All-Region Division III Baseball Team Announced; Suffolk County's Dominick Viggiano and Peter Blumenauer Win Region's Major Awards
Region 15 announced its Division III Baseball All-Region team on Friday evening.
Both major award winners come from top-seeded Suffolk County Community College. Dominick Viggiano has been named the Region 15 Division III Baseball Player of the Year. Peter Blumenauer has been selected as the Region 15 Division III Baseball Coach of the Year.
At the plate this season, Viggiano is hitting .425 with 19 extra base hits, including three home runs. He's scored 81 runs and stolen an NJCAA Division III all-time high 78 bases. Viggiano's slugging percentage is at .608 with an on-base percentage of .585. In right field, he has produced 36 putouts and six assists for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Thanks to his strong fielding skills, Viggiano was selected to the Region 15 Gold Glove team.
Blumenauer has led the Sharks to a No. 6 national ranking in the NJCAA Division III National Poll, a 38-11 overall record and a 25-3 mark in Region 15 play, as well as the top seed in the Region 15 Division III Baseball Postseason.
