Seven Region 15 Baseball Student-Athletes Named NJCAA All-Americans
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The NJCAA and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings released its 2024-25 Division III Baseball All-America teams this past Thursday afternoon. Region 15 is heavily represented.
Both Dominick Viggiano of Suffolk County Community College and Frailin Jimenez of Bronx Community College were named to the ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA All-America second team. Robert Herrera (Monroe University – Bronx), Jacob Galaz (Suffolk County Community College), and Filippo Venditti (Kingsborough Community College) landed on the ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA All-America third team. Anthony Fernandez of Monroe University – New Rochelle was selected to the NJCAA Division I All-American Honorable Mention team. Ryan Foody of Rockland Community College was named to the NJCAA Division II All-America Honorable Mention team.

Viggiano helped the Sharks capture the Region 15 Championship. He was also named the Region 15 Player of the Year and was bestowed All-Region first team honors this season. At the plate in 2025, Viggiano hit .407 with 20 extra base hits, including three home runs. He scored 86 runs and stole an NJCAA Division III all-time high 83 bases. Viggiano finished with a slugging percentage of .581 with an on-base percentage of .570. In right field, he produced 46 putouts and six assists for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, which earned him the Region 15 Gold Glove Award.
Jimenez was named to the All-Region first team, was selected as the CUNY Community College Pitcher of the Year, and earned his place on the 2025 CUNY CC Baseball All-Star team. Jimenez went 9-3 for the Broncos this year, earning an impressive earned run average of 2.10. He led the NJCAA with 114 strikeouts during the year. He helped propel Bronx CC to the CUNY Community College Championship and a berth in the Region 15 Postseason.
Herrera made a big impact in his rookie year as he led the Express all the way to the deciding game of the Region 15 Championship Round. He was named to the All-Region 15 first team, was selected to the Region 15 All-Tournament team, and was awarded NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week kudos during the 2025 campaign. The phenom finished his electric season with a .483 batting average, a .538 on-base percentage, and a .684 slugging percentage across 42 games. Herrera totaled 72 hits, 65 runs scored, 54 RBIs, 15 doubles, three home runs, and just as many triples. He added 31 stolen bases in 33 attempts and walked 34 times during the year.
Galaz led the Sharks to the Region 15 Championship this season. The ace went 9-1 with an outstanding earned run average of 3.03 as he struck out 95 batters in the process. Primarily a starting pitcher, Galaz also came out of the bullpen where he picked up two saves. His strong pitching performance earned him a spot on the All-Region first team.
Venditti had a strong year for the Wave as he drilled five home runs, compiled 43 RBIs, and scored 50 runs. He produced a batting average of .385 with a slugging percentage of .623 and an on-base percentage of .516. Thanks to his outstanding year, Venditti was selected to the All-Region first team and the CUNY CC Baseball All-Star team.
Fernandez batted .345 this year for the Mustangs with a 1.012 OPS. Across 168 at-bats, Fernandez drove in 42 runs. He lined 15 doubles and drilled four home runs. Fernandez earned his 100th career hit on April 27 against Potomac State.
In 50 games played for Rockland this year, Foody produced a .414 batting average, hit five home runs, scored 56 times, drove in 45 runs, drilled 20 extra-base hits, and worked 54 walks. The first baseman was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Region 15 Division II Baseball Tournament after leading the Hawks to the regional championship. Foody also earned Region 15 Division II Player of the Year accolades as well as All-Region first team honors.
