ASA's Williams, Kassem & Hendrick Earn Football All-American Honors

Once again, the ASA College football program produced three student-athletes that were named NJCAA All-Americans for the 2014 season. Sophomore running back Joseph Williams was named to the Offensive Second Team. On the same side of the ball, sophomore offensive lineman, Sami Kassem, was named an Honorable Mention All-American. Rounding out the trio of Avengers to receive honors was sophomore defensive end Torey Hendrick, who was named a Defensive Honorable Mention All-American.

#2 Joe Williams (Allentown, PA/Emmaus HS) - The 205-pound tailback was a true workhorse for the Avengers out of the backfield this season. Williams led the Northeast Football Conference in rushing with 1093 yards in only 7 games played, giving him 156.1 yards per contest, which was fourth best in the nation. He finished third in the conference in scoring with 10 touchdowns for the season; his seven rushing touchdowns was good for 35th nationally. Williams, a transfer from UCONN also led the conference in all-purpose yards with 199 yards per game.

#78 Sammi Kassem (OL, So., Cincinnati, OH/Indian Hill) - The 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive lineman started just about every game during his career at ASA, and finished it up at the guard position. He helped an ASA rushing offense finish third in the conference, only separated by five yards from first. Kassem is commited to the University of Toledo to continue his collegiate career.

#43 Torey Hendrick (DL, So., Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Township HS) - The 6-4, 230-pound defensive end was a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks and offensive tackles because of his explosive speed off of the edge this season. In seven games, Hendrick would amass 26 tackles, eight tackles for a loss including four sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception against Dean College, which he returned "to the house".

In the past three seasons, nine Avengers have been named All-Americans, the most in the Northeast Football Conference in that time frame.
