Monroe Mustangs Football Tabbed For NJCAA Game of the Week On ESPN + Against #5 Snow College
Charlotte, NC – The Monroe College Mustangs football team will hit the gridiron in primetime against No. 5 ranked Snow Badgers on Saturday, November 12, at 2:00 PM ET/12:00 PM MST in Ephraim, Utah.
The Monroe Mustangs (NY) had an off weekend to recover and are looking to end their season on a high note with a win over a top-10 ranked team. A loss to #12 Lackawanna College (14-21) on October 29 put their overall record for the season at 3-4. The Mustangs are averaging 289.7 yds per game, with 210.4 average through the air and 22.4 points per game average.
A bright spot for Monroe is Redshirt Freshman QB Mason Boothe. He's ranked 11th in the nation in passing, averaging 193.9 per game.
Snow (UT) enters this week ranked fifth in the newest DI football poll. It matches the team's highest ranking this season. The Badgers are 6-2 and winners of two straight games. They endured a daunting start to the season with four of their first six duels against top-10 teams. Snow went 2-2 versus those ranked opponents, which included a thrilling 50-49 victory over No. 8 Butler in overtime. Their most recent scheduled contest on October 29 against Community Christian (Detroit) was canceled.
The Badgers are third in the nation with 204.8 rushing yards per game. Carson Manookin, Targhee Lambson, and Rahsul Faison have combined for 15 rushing touchdowns this season. Manookin ran for a season-high 142 yards in their last game on October 21. Snow's defense is also very strong. The squad is ninth in the country, holding opponents to just 87.3 yards per game on the ground. Linebacker Cole Bowers anchors the defense with a team-high 48 tackles.
