Region 15 Announces Division III Men's Basketball All-Region Team
Region 15 has released the Division III All-Region team for men's basketball.
The Region 15 Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Year is sophomore Tyrese Conway from nationally ranked No. 14 Hostos Community College. Conway produced video game numbers for the Caimans this year, averaging 23.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.8 steals per game. His most noticeable game was on January 4 at LaGuardia Community College when he produced a triple-double consisting of 50 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. He shot 19-for-24 from the field (79.2%) during the contest, including 12-for-15 from 3-point range (80.0%). He also forced four steals during the evening and despite scoring 50 points, he did not attempt a single free throw. Conway propelled the Caimans to the CUNYAC Championship and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Region 15 Tournament.
The Region 15 Division III Men's Basketball Head Coach of the Year is Robert Piano from Dutchess Community College. Piano has guided his team to the No. 1 national ranking in the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Poll. The Falcons went undefeated against NJCAA Division III opponents during the regular season and 23-1 overall. Dutchess is the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region 15 Tournament. This is Piano's second straight Region 15 Coach of the Year honor.
