Suffolk Men, Women Grab Another Region XV Bowling Title

Suffolk Community College once again laid claim to the men's & women's Region XV Bowling Championships as they led the 3-team field in 2017.

The men won by 698 total pins over second place Westchester, while the women led incomplete Westchester and Rockland rosters and bowled uncontested in baker competition.

Suffolk freshman Steve Welsh grabbed titles in singles, doubles, and all-events. He knocked down 423 pins in singles and 452 pins in doubles, teaming up with John Kavanaugh for the win. He then shot 396 in team play to average just under 212 for the 6-game event, which was nearly 100 pins better than second place all-events finisher Robert Shine from Westchester.

On the women's side, Kaitlyn Binder of Suffolk grabbed a doubles and all-events title, while Jennifer Bisogno of Molloy earned singles honors. Binder averaged 202 for 6 games, shooting 2-game series of 432, 377 and 403 in the event.
