Westchester CC Men's Bowling Finishes in 16th Place at 2022 NJCAA National Championships
(Lansing, MI) - Freshman Jessica Kasper (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac HS) earned a 27th-place finish in All Events on the women's side with a 168.42 average, missing a top-25 finish by only 25 pins, and freshman Desmond Washington (Hartsdale, NY/Woodlands HS) finished in 38th place in All Events with a 184.42 average as the Westchester Community College Men's and Women's Bowling teams both earned top-20 national finishes at the NJCAA Bowling Championships, held from March 3-5 in Lansing, Michigan.
The Viking women's team finished in 11th place, placing one spot ahead of NJCAA Region XV foe, Nassau Community College. Westchester knocked down 9,111 total pins for the event.
Kasper was outstanding, earning a 58th place finish in singles competition, and the doubles tandem of Kasper and Filicity Keogh (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac HS) finished in 18th place, knocking down 1,026 pins.
On the men's side, the Vikings were 16th place finishers, missing a top-15 finish by a narrow margin to Mohawk Valley CC. Freshman Max Belvedere (North White Plains, NY/Valhalla HS) and Washington tied for an 83rd place finish in singles play, and the Westchester CC doubles team of Belvedere and Brendan Adair (Ossining, NY/Stepinac) finished in 41st place, knocking down 1001 total pins.
The Viking men also earned the Sportsmanship Award for their spirit that was displayed throughout the event.
Rock Valley (Ill.) College earned the NJCAA Bowling Championship on both the men's and women's side.
