Region 15 Releases Division III Women's Basketball All-Region Team
Region 15 has announced its Division III All-Region team for women's basketball.
The Region 15 Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Year is sophomore Daja White from nationally ranked No. 4 Hostos Community College. She is having an outstanding season for the Caimans, producing 16.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 4.1 steals per game. She led Hostos to the CUNYAC Championship victory over then-nationally ranked No. 4 Kingsborough Community College, this past Friday, by draining a 3-point field goal at the final buzzer to propel the Caimans to the win, 80-79. As a result, Hostos earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region 15 Tournament. During the CUNYAC Championship game, White scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists, and forced three steals.
The Region 15 Division III Women's Basketball Head Coach of the Year is Dwight Shaw from Hostos. He guided his team to a 24-1 overall record and 11-1 in Region 15 play. The Caimans won the CUNYAC Championship and clinched the No. 1 seed in the regional tournament. The Caimans are currently ranked No. 4 in the country.
