Suffolk County to Compete in the JUCO Softball World Series Beginning on Wednesday

The Suffolk County Community College Sharks punched its ticket to the NJCAA Division III JUCO Softball World Series by defeating Community College of Rhode Island in both games of the Northeast District Championship Series back on May 9. The scores were 14-2 and 5-1. The contests took place at Winslow Field up in Warwick, R.I.

The nationally ranked No. 13 Monroe University – Bronx baseball team's memorable season came to an end on Sunday. After winning a hard-fought Game 2 against nationally ranked No. 7 Northern Essex Community College earlier in the day, 6-2, the Express fell in the rubber game of the Northeast District Championship Series to the Knights, 15-7. Both games took place at Haverhill Stadium.

Sophomore standout Darren Lopez, of the Monroe University – Bronx men's volleyball team, was named to the NJCAA All-America second team. The NJCAA made the official announcement on Thursday afternoon which can be seen here. This marked the first year the NJCAA has released an All-America team for men's volleyball.

Westchester Vikings Capture Region 15 Division II Baseball Championship

The Westchester Community College Vikings captured the Region 15 Division II Baseball Championship on Sunday afternoon, defeating Ulster County Community College in the Region 15 Championship Game by a score of 18-6. The game took place on the campus of Ulster County. The Vikings will now compete in the East District Championship Tournament this upcoming weekend at Vikings Field. The Senators also earn a berth in the district postseason.

Cristina Collier, Chelsea Ratcliff, Ashirah Cox, and Nashya Burrell captured the National Championship for the Tigers in the 4x400 Meter Relay.
